Horse Show Weekend!

This past weekend, I competed on Ariel ("Dance at My Party") at a two-day local show partly sponsored by the barn I ride at. I rode at this show last year on Ariel, but this year we moved up a division to "Novice" and "Special", which means you get to ride over courses of 7-8 jumps, each class with a different pattern of jumps. Sunday was my better day, but Braden was there on Saturday and took some pictures and provided general show support. I was in a tough class of 15 riders, but did pretty well for my first show over fences, earning some ribbons (3rd was my highest placing) and not going off-course. So it was a successful weekend, and I learned a lot.

Sunday Hike

Last Sunday, Braden and I took Tsuki for a hike in Filmore Glen State Park. (Yes, named after the ever-so-famous President Millard Filmore, who was born in the region.) It's a favorite hike of ours because it's relatively close and has a lot of waterfalls and bridges. So far the river is really low this year--not much rain. Tsuki had a great time, until she became rather tired around mile 3.5. Needless to say, she slept for the rest of the day.
